| The Concrete Edging Process |
First, the edging site is prepared. Ground
preparation is very important in achieving a
professional looking finish. A channel to accommodate
the edging machine is made around the landscaping area
and is cleared using a sod cutter. Final ground
preparation is completed using shovels and hand tools.
Next, concrete is prepared in a mortar mixer. Sand,
cement, fiber and water are mixed to optimal
consistency. Color additives can be added to the mixture
to increase the versatility and beauty of the final
product.
After the edging is laid, impressions are made using
various stamping tools. Stress relieving control joints
are made to reduce cracking due to subtle ground
settling over time. Other coloring techniques can be
done at this time.
The edging should be sealed every two years to
maintain its beautiful appearance. |
